Sunday evening, Monday Blues have slowly started kicking in! As i sit here and think deep about life…suddenah one random thought kicked in about ‘Coconut Boli‘ please don’t ask why but it just happened and got me thinking and i actually have so many questions running on my mind now,
Does BOLI commands the same share of respect like it’s counterparts?
A legacy sweet but hasn’t attained global recognition?
Why has there been such limited product innovation? If there can be Gulab Jamun & Cotton Candy Ice Cream flavour why hasn’t anyone thought of coming up anything with Boli
Why has Boli not graduated beyond the streets of TNagar & West Mambalam?
Is Poli even amongst the choice of the Millennials, Do GenZ and Alpha even know what is Boli? Are we seeing legacy sweet slowly fade away from our lives?
SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!
If Boli was like the front benchers, he who would have gone for IIT JEE coaching from 6th standard, cracked the exam, done engineering from a top college, completed MBA in Marketing and is now working as a Vice President in a Bank in US of A or if Poli was a last bencher who probably is a college dropout, now a start-up founder who has networked well, managed to get VC funding and is all set to become the next Unicorn but our Boli is neither go-getter or a gamechanger! Boli must be such an introvert! Like Idhayam Murali
Wonder why is Boli like this? I’m sure Boli at some point of time must have also wanted to be as popular as “Gulab Jamun”, be cool amongst his peers like “Ladoo”, travel around the world like “Kaju Katli” or probably in love with “Jalebi” but was scared to tell her because fear of rejection!
The festive season has kicked in, there is so much positive vibes in the air, the joy of gifting, every sweet shop is now buzzing with orders. In a couple of days time we will all be gifted with half kg sweet box at office! Spare a thought for Poli who is sitting there at a corner of Sri Krishna Sweets/Adyar Ananda Bhavan Counter and seeing at all the orders pouring in and not a single soul has asked for Boli! That disappointment is even more heartbreaking than seeing your love Jalebi getting married to Badushah
Don’t even know if Boli wants to revive itself and want to make a comeback like Dinesh Karthik! must be feeling like Suresh Raina during last years’ IPL auction when no team showed any interest to buy him!
